Cpl. Manuel Jimenez from 1st Platoon Fox Co., 2nd Battalion 6th Marines is carried by his fellow marines over a canal to be medevaced by helicopter after he was hit with a 40 pound IED along Route Marcy that cost him his left arm near their Patrol Base near the Chor-Cherey bazaar in western Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan, Sunday, August 1, 2010. IED attacks are by far the biggest threat to US troops in Afghanistan- responsible for an estimated 80% of injuries and deaths in the southern area of the country are from IED's. The one that hit Cpl. Jimenez was set off with a command wire that stretched to a nearby field and was activated with a motorcycle battery.
