At Combat Outpost McClain, the soldiers of Alpha Battery, 4/25 Artillery Regiment do it all- get ambushed by the Taliban, get out and fight for hearts and minds, prepare for the upcoming elections, and get stuck in ditches. Their job, to provide a secure environment for the August elections and to stop insurgent infiltration in northern Logar province, is a stark illustration of the new counterinsurgency strategy the US is pursuing in Afghanistan.
